MediaStorm Hiring Back-End Developer

MediaStorm is looking for a passionate and self-motivated back-end develop to implement and customize PHP and MySQL code for MediaStorm’s publication and client projects.

The ideal candidate will have proven technical expertise in creating scalable, database-driven web applications and websites in PHP, MySQL and MVC frameworks such as CodeIgniter. They will be working with front-end developers and interactive designers to lead and execute development.

Back-End Developer

Description
MediaStorm Back-End Developers will:

  • Code back-end website solutions in PHP and MySQL
  • Develop and maintain elastic cloud scaling servers (Amazon EC2), along with other cloud-based third-party applications (Zencoder, Braintree, etc.)
  • Develop back-end strategies for large-scale projects
  • Develop innovative production and workflow tools
  • Work with Front-End Developers, Interactive Designers and Project Managers to establish production timelines
  • Participate in client meetings and develop to their needs
  • Work with designers to implement designs and user interfaces
  • Be responsible for testing code across browsers and platforms
  • Be responsible for unit-testing, and front-testing using Selenium
  • Build database applications for in-house data storage needs as well as for web site data delivery
  • Maintain a development environment (Git)
  • Manage deployment of code updates to live websites
  • Keep up-to-date with new back-end technologies

Qualifications
The successful applicant should have:

  • At least three years of professional development experience
  • Advanced knowledge of PHP and MySQL
  • Knowledge of PHP frameworks
  • Commanding knowledge of Object Oriented Programming
  • Experience with Facebook Connect and the Facebook API
  • An appreciation of well designed and implemented user interfaces
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse team
  • Ability to self-manage and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to work virtually if necessary
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in building large-scale community websites
  • Understanding of HTML/CSS integration
  • Understanding of web standards and compliance
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of Ruby and Python a plus
  • Experience in Drupal a plus
  • Experience with jQuery, Backbone.js, and other JavaScript libraries a plus
