Curator, writer, editor and educator David Campany explores the craft of photo books, detailing his early love of photography and providing a look at some of his favorite books in a short-film, as well as a deep dive into 18 pivotal books, in the latest project by MediaStorm and Harbers Studios.

Campany pulls from many years of experience in the field to shed light on the different ways photographers craft photo books to communicate their artistic message, including detailed looks at some of his favorites.

“I Am Not Who They Think I Am” Film Premiere

Join the International Center for Transitional Justice and MediaStorm for the launch of a short documentary narrating the struggle for redress of children born of wartime sexual violence in Northern Uganda. A panel discussion will follow, featuring: Abigail Disney, documentary filmmaker and producer of the Women, War and Peace series Lauren Wolfe, Director, WMC Women Under Siege Tanya Karanasios, deputy program director of WITNESS Sarah Kasande, the head of ICTJ’s office in Uganda Moderator: Virginie Ladisch, director of ICTJ’s Children and Youth Program. The screening will be held on Thursday, February 2, at the Open Society Foundations building at 224 West 57th Street, starting at 6pm.

Obama Announces $90 Million to Clear Laos’ Unexploded Bombs

According to CNN, "President Barack Obama said Tuesday that US has an 'obligation' to help Laos recover from a brutal secret bombing campaign that destroyed parts of the Southeast Asian nation." While visiting the country's capital, Obama pledged $90 million dollars to clear millions of unexploded ordinances. The joint effort will take three years.
