NPPA Best of Photojournalism Awards 2014 Announced

MediaStorm is proud to announce that our video series for the International Center of Photography's 29th Annual Infinity Awards has been awarded Honorable Mention in the Best of Photojournalism Visual Column category. First place is MediaStorm contributor Scott Strazzante of the Chicago Tribune for "Shooting From The Hip." Second place is Barbara Davidson of the Los Angeles Times for Framework, and third place is Michele McNally and the staff of The New York Times for the LENS blog. MediaStorm was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Documentary Multimedia Story category for "Swan Song." The BoP Awards honored many excellent multimedia pieces this year. First place in the Multimedia Story category went to Rick Loomis of the Los Angeles Times for "A Soldier's Wife." Second place is The New York Times for "Invisible Child: Dasani's Homeless Life." A story called "The Jockey" by Chang W. Lee, Barry Bearak, Michele McNally and the staff of The New York Times won Best Use…

MediaStorm Publishes Common Ground

Common Ground by Scott Strazzante On July 2, 2002, Jean and Harlow Cagwin watched as their home — the last remnant of their 118-acre cattle farm in Lockport, Illinois — was torn down clearing the way for a new housing development. Several years later, Ed and Amanda Grabenhofer and their four children moved into the new Willow Walk subdivision, their house just yards from where the Cagwin's home once stood. Common Ground introduces us to the lives touched by this land, as photographer Scott Strazzante takes us on a visual journey exploring the differences and similarities of these two families while simultaneously asking us to look at what is common among us all.
