Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll - when we think back to the exciting, chaotic 1960s, those are often the first words that come to mind.
Then the image becomes darker, more complex. The decade that started with a call to a "New Frontier" and the promise of equal rights would soon see the assassination of the president and a war in Vietnam that would claim 58,000 American lives.
Today, with baby boomers turning 60, we asked: What's their legacy - long hair, acid rock and Woodstock? Or do they have something important to teach us?
