Jim Lo Scalzo
Even after 16 years shooting for US News & World Report, Jim Lo Scalzo is not his own idea of a photographer. He's had assignments in more than 60 countries, won an award or two, and written a memoir. And yet he still hates tech talk, has never worn a Leica around his neck like jewelry, and doesn't own a flash.
He does carry a microphone and notebook, however. And often a video camera. He loves to write and report his own stories; all his multimedia pieces were reported, shot, and edited by him alone.
As for the rest, he loves to teach, to cook, to travel. He has a master's degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and two children.
