The Carnegie-Knight initiative on the future of journalism education called News for the 21st Century: Incubators of New Ideas, or News 21, involves a unique collaboration with five research universities including University of California, Berkeley, University of Southern California, Nothwestern University, Harvard University and Columbia University. Approximately 44 students each year will participate for ten weeks each summer starting in June 2006. Students will create news products that are experimental in substance and style and on a topic of global importance.
The goal of the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education is to elevate journalism schools within university communities and to integrate them into the academic life of the campus so that they will attract and prepare the journalism leaders of tomorrow for a more complex and intellectually challenging industry. |
