Winners for this year’s World Press Photo Competition have been announced. British Photographer Tim Hetherington won the 2007 World Press Photo of the Year, for his image of a US soldier resting in a bunker. Other winners include John Moore/Getty Images, who won 1st Place Singles and 1st Place Stories in the Spot News Category, and Balazs Gardi/VII Network/Alexia Foundation, who won 1st Place in both Singles and Stories in the General News Category. The Px3 Photo Competition has also announced their winners:
1st Place- Stephanie Sinclair, The Bride Price
2nd Place- Juliana Beasley, Eyes of Salamanca
3rd Place- Marco Di Lauro, Chad Refugees
Sinclair’s work is also being shown in a separate exhibition in a special one-day exhibition on Capitol Hill, hosted by the International Center for Research on Women. The exhibition on February 25 from 4:30-6 is open to all, but RSVP’s are required. More details available here.
