Applications for the 2013 Aurora Multimedia Workshop are now open. New for 2013 they’ve split the workshop into two back-to-back sessions.

The first two days will be a 101 Seminar for a wider audience looking to gather the latest information in the world of dSLR filmmaking and network with fellow colleagues and faculty.

Directly following, there will be a smaller 201 Hands-On Workshop program for those wanting more in-depth education. It will include hands-on experience in producing a short project in a small group environment.

101 Seminar

During the 101 Seminar, presenters will share how multimedia fits into the future from the perspective of new media ad agency Crispin Porter+ Bogusky to how traditional news media are transitioning (National Geographic in multimedia) to the goals of a new division of a highly respected picture agency (Novus Select) to tips from documentary filmmakers. This is not just training for today, but a vision of the future.

201 Hands On Workshop

The 201 Workshop will have practical hands-on training. Small 3-4 person groups will develop a story idea, shoot in the field, edit a short piece and have that final edit projected before the group and discussed at length among the faculty.

About the Workshop

The Aurora Multimedia Workshop prepares photographers for creating effective multimedia projects and examines the challenging new world of visual storytelling. Partnered with Aurora Photos and Novus Select, this hands-on workshop provides instruction in combining still photographs, sound, narration and video. It is held on the University of Colorado campus.

The workshop includes faculty from National Geographic, MediaStorm, Novus Select, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, and the New York Times, among others.
