The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is looking for an experienced assignment picture editor. The editor’s job is to get photographers in the right place to create great pictures for the publication’s print and online platforms. This is a full-time position. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, May 18th, 2014.
Job Details
This person is the main contact for photographers in the field. The editor coordinates coverage with reporters and editors and works with designers on the print and online presentation of photography. The editor reports to the director of photography. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 10-6:30. It may include weekends, nights and travel. A MacBook Pro laptop is provided. A four-year college degree or equivalent is required. This position requires:
- Experience managing an assignment photo desk Strong picture editing skills for print and online
- Video editing skills are a plus
- Understand the need for urgency, and ability to work quickly every day
- Familiarity with social media platforms
- Experience using police scanners and following spot news
- Experience designing pages for print and online platforms is a plus
- Knowledge of AP style
- Great communication and interpersonal skills Proven organizational skills
