The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology is now accepting applications for an Assistant Professor position in its Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Photojournalism program. This is a tenure track position. Application review begins December 1st, 2014 and continues until the position is filled.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate photojournalism courses in interactive multimedia design with strong photojournalistic and visual narrative skills. Ideal candidates will be dedicated to scholarship and service, including student career advisement, and provide leadership and vision in the continued interdisciplinary vibrancy of the School’s BFA program, its students and curriculum.

Qualifications

  • MFA with photojournalism focus preferred for tenure track appointment. A MS and MA degree with professional distinction (awards, prizes, publications) may also be considered for tenure track appointment. A BFA or BA in photojournalism with equivalent professional experience with distinction may be considered for non-tenure, professional rank.
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in field of photojournalism with a substantial record of professional accomplishment in interactive multimedia.
  • Portfolio must demonstrate following required expertise: Thorough professional knowledge and experience of web design, graphic design, information architecture and visualization, and multi-platform usability.
  • Strong demonstrated abilities in picture editing, including layout and design, and basic management experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
