Documentary Intensive
The UnionDocs Summer Intensive is a 5-week program for a select group of emerging filmmakers from the US and abroad. Based in one of NYC’s most exciting neighborhoods, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the program explores contemporary approaches to documentary film, offers a stronger understanding of the best practices and business of production, and helps to develop the foundation of your independent project.
The program consists of screenings, seminar discussions, production instruction, professional development sessions, critique, mentorship, many guest artist master classes, and weekly visits to relevant sites around New York City. The Summer Intensive exposes participants to a diverse set of creative documentary practices from around the world, encouraging experimentation and discovery.
Previous work in documentary is not required, but a demonstrated commitment to independent creative work is necessary. For more information visit UnionDocs.org.
Collaborative Studio
The UnionDocs Collaborative Studio (CoLAB) is a 10 month program for a select group of media artists from the US and abroad. Based in one of NYC’s most exciting neighborhoods, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, CoLAB offers a platform for exploring contemporary approaches to the documentary arts and a process for developing an innovative collaborative project. The program consists of weekly production meetings, seminars, screenings and other public programs, along with regular masterclasses and critiques with visiting artists.
