The Journalism School at the University of Iowa is accepting applications for a one-year teaching position that will start August 15th, 2015. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to take a year off from his/her job to have a close-up view of Iowa, devote time for a long project, or transition into university teaching.

Description

The successful applicant will have the ability to teach upper division courses in the areas of media ethics and reporting and writing.

The school has recently instituted a new required course in media ethics. Ideally, the successful candidate will teach this course in a way that is relevant for the digital age. Applicants may have expertise in any number of news beats. However, the school has a particular interest in candidates who have significant experience with political reporting and/or technology reporting. Political reporters may have an opportunity to help teach Iowa caucus-related courses. Technology reporters may have an opportunity to develop capstone reporting and writing courses in this area.

A B.A. or B.S. degree is required. Significant professional experience also is required. Teaching experience is preferred.
