The following is a list of upcoming application deadlines for photography workshops, awards and scholarships:
May 14: Eddie Adams Workshop Application
Applications are now being accepted to the 2007 Eddie Adams Workshop, Barnstorm, held annually in Jeffersonville, N.Y. Barnstorm is tuition-free, and sponsored by Nikon, Inc. This year’s Barnstorm will be held October 5 to 8, and applicants will be notified in July. Information is available at http://www.eddieadamsworkshop.com.
May 15: Inge Morath Prize
Magnum Photos is accepting entries for the fifth Inge Morath Prize, which is awarded to a woman photographer under 30 years of age. The $5,000 prize is given to assist in the completion of a long-term documentary project. Information is availalbe at http://agency.magnumphotos.com/agency/home/about/IngeMorathAward.aspx.
May 15: Getty Grants Award
In 2007, Getty Images will award five photojournalists individual grants of $20,000 each, for a total of $100,000, for their outstanding documentary photography proposals. Three grants will be given to those who apply for the May 15 deadline, and two to those who apply for the November 15 deadline. May 31: Canon Female Photojournalist Award
Canon and the French Association of Women Journalists (AFK) are sponsoring the seventh Canon Female Photojournalist Award. The award of 8,000 Euro is awarded each year to a woman photographer for the completion of a documentary project. June 15: Truth With a Camera Workshop
Applications are now being accepted for the 2007 Truth with a Camera Workshop, held in Norfolk, VA August 11-17. Participants will get a chance to take a picture story from conception to final layout, and will get a chance to work with some of the best photographers and multimedia leaders in the industry. June 15: Ian Parry Scholarship
“Each year we hold a competition for photographers who are either attending a full-time photography course or are under the age of 24. Entrants must submit a portfolio of their work and a brief synopsis of a project they would undertake if they won the scholarship. The prize is £2,500 towards their assignment. Metro Imaging also offer £500 worth of vouchers to the winner and £250 to those awarded highly commended and commended.” Information is available at http://www.ianparry.org/.
