The Collections Information & Access department of the J. Paul Getty Museum seeks a media producer to lead the development and implementation of educational multimedia regarding the Museum’s collection and exhibitions. Media projects include audio tours, media-rich digital presentations, interactive installations, and videos about the Museum’s collection, art-making techniques, conservation projects, and exhibitions. The producer oversees media projects from conception through completion, serving as the primary contact for internal and external parties for content development, and administrative and related technology matters. Creates and executes project proposals, specifications, and budgets; develops and manages multiple concurrent project plans; helps to shape and define the experience of the Museum visitorboth physical and virtual; and ensures quality and consistency across media product lines. Collections Information & Access is a highly creative, collaborative, team-oriented department. The producer serves as media project team leader, working with content authors, designers, media specialists, external contractors, and editors, in addition to curatorial, education, exhibition, and Web production staff. The producer is responsible for creating media that meets the interpretative goals of curatorial and education staff. The successful candidate must be able to adapt in order to accommodate curatorial exhibition-related needs, and be able to integrate new technologies in media production and display. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related area of study, and 5 years experience in educational media production or related field, is required. Strong project management, communication, collaborative, and organizational abilities are essential. Working knowledge of new developments in multimedia technology is ideal. Must have solid experience developing and managing budgets and project plans. Ability to supervise and work with video crews and audio engineers is required. Technical expertise with media editing tools and software, such as Final Cut Pro, is necessary. Must have a solid understanding of editorial processes as they relate to digital interactive projects for in-gallery and online environments, and experience producing content for diverse audiences. Must be able to produce multiple projects on time and within budget. Energy, enthusiasm, initiative, and innovation are key qualities for this position.
