MediaStorm Welcomes Director of Partnership Development, Samia Khan

MediaStorm is excited to welcome Samia Khan to our team as the Director of Partnership Development. Samia Khan is dedicated to using the power of collective action and storytelling to build a more just world. She has spent the past decade working on human rights and development issues in Kenya, Pakistan, and the United States; with organizations like the UNDP, UNCDF, the World Bank, and Ashoka. Most recently, Samia worked as a strategic planning and fundraising consultant, where she helped organizations clarify their missions and programs and execute successful fundraising campaigns. Samia is also a founding Board Member of the Nur Project, an organization that seeks to shine a light on stories of hope and change in Pakistan. Samia holds a Master's in Public Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and her dog.

Cortney Cleveland is a freelance writer helping professionals and brands tell stories on the web. Her coverage of professional development, cultural, and entrepreneurial topics appears in online outlets like Madame Noire and Black Enterprise. Prior to starting her freelance career, she worked in public relations, supporting a variety of communications campaigns and managing high-profile client accounts for public relations agencies in Washington, DC (GMMB) and New York City (Peppercom). As an honor student at Howard University, where she studied Journalism and Psychology, she completed a legislative internship with U.S. Senator Paul S. Sarbanes and community relations internships with Washington DC's top hip-hop radio station and advocacy organizations. MediaStorm Welcomes Summer Intern Arkasha Stevenson

MediaStorm is excited to welcome Arkasha Stevenson to our team as our Summer 2013. Arkasha Stevenson is a photojournalist currently based in Los Angeles. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina in December 2010. While attending school, she documented issues in the rural South, such as drug addiction and prostitution in Durham, N.C., and child care in Elizabethtown, Ky. For the last year and a half Stevenson has worked as a photography and video intern at the Los Angeles Times. During her internship she has had the opportunity to photograph a wide variety of subjects, including the Occupy movement, the remote desert squatter camp of Slab City and the Coachella Music Festival, and has been sent internationally to follow the Stanley Cup. MediaStorm Welcomes Spring Interns Josh Davis and Jon Kasbe

MediaStorm is excited to welcome Josh Davis and Jon Kasbe to our team as Spring 2013 interns. Joshua Davis is an award-winning multimedia journalist and documentary videomaker. He recently earned his master's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he produced his multimedia thesis, The Undocumentary, about the immigrant rights movement. The project received multiple honors in the 67th College Photographer of the Year Awards, and it was recognized in the 2012 FotoWeekDC International Awards Competition. Last summer, Joshua served as the managing editor of 100 Gallons, a 2012 special report about water for Powering A Nation. Joshua previously freelanced in New York and Washington, D.C., where he worked on projects for PBS Frontline, RollingStone.com, The New York Times, Arte, the Travel Channel, and nonprofit organizations. He has served as adjunct faculty at New York University, coached the 2012 Carolina Photojournalism Workshop and taught courses as an Apple Certified Final Cut Pro editing instructor.…
