Asian Center for Journalism offering online Multimedia Diploma Program

The Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University is offering a new Multimedia Diploma program. The one year diploma is taught mainly online. It is designed for any professional journalist (writers, photographers, radio and TV reporters) wishing to diversify their story telling and embrace the world of new media. From their site: The Diploma in Multimedia Journalism program seeks to raise the bar in professionalism amongst Asian journalists in their ability to undertake ethical cross platform multimedia journalistic projects by providing comprehensive institutional training primarily to working journalists and editors. 10 Scholarships are available for Asian journalists. CFR’s ‘Crisis Guide: Pakistan’ named as winner of Overseas Press Club of America’s Best Use of Multimedia Award

Crisis Guide: Pakistan, produced by the Council on Foreign Relations in partnership with MediaStorm, was selected as the winner for the Overseas Press Club of America's Best Use of Multimedia Award. OPC introduced 6 new awards this year for online journalism. Award recipients were announced last night at the 72nd Annual OPC Awards dinner in New York City. Congratulations to all of the winners!

NPPA Offers Two Full-Tuition Kalish Workshop Scholarships

If you're thinking of applying for The Kalish Workshop, the Workshop and the NPPA are offering some great stipends and scholarships: From the NPPA site: The National Press Photographers Association is offering two full-tuition scholarships to The Kalish Workshop in June at Ball State University in Muncie, IN, and the workshop is offering 10 stipends toward registration. The Kalish, in its twenty-first year, is four days of intense training in visual storytelling editing. Participants will learn how to establish a narrative, select media mix, edit the narrative, and produce the story for online and print. The Kalish combines lectures, hands-on exercises, critiques, and group discussions to create a complete learning experience. The workshop is geared for anyone who handles pictures for online or print. Picture editors, photographers, professors, writers, and designers will benefit.
