70th Anniversary POYi Competition Open

Pictures of the Year International has launched its 70th anniversary competition to honor the world's premier documentary photography, multimedia, and visual editing. This years' competition features 50 categories, including year-specific categories such as the Olympics and Campaign 2012. Plus, there are two new categories to recognize eBooks in the Best Publications Division. The registration platform is now open. The entry deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. About Pictures of the Year International Pictures of the Year International is the oldest and most prestigious photojournalism program in the world. Alexia Foundation Exhibition: Images & Issues

The Alexia Foundation will be hosting “Images and Issues” at 25 CPW Gallery on January 23rd, 2013 in New York, New York. The exhibition will feature selected works from the Alexia Foundation’s 22 years of awarding grants to photojournalists, with a special focus on the 2012 professional and student winners, Justin Maxon and Katie Orlinsky, both of whom will be in attendance. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Women’s Initiative and celebrate the work of Alexia Foundation and the photojournalists it encourages. MediaStorm at Unofficial Google+ Film Festival

MediaStorm is excited to be part of the 2012 Unofficial Google+ Film Festival this weekend. The festival will be held online all weekend on the UGPFF Google+ page. Call for Participants: POV Hackathon 2

The PBS documentary series POV has announced its Call for Participants for POV Hackathon 2. Ten teams of filmmakers and technologists will converge for a January weekend in New York City to create prototypes that seek to reinvent the documentary for the web. The application deadline for filmmakers, developers and designers is December 7, 2012. There is no fee to apply or participate.
