The Alexia Foundation is proud to offer a one-day seminar entitled “Photography: Agent For Change,” for photographers to learn to use photography to effect change. Covering a story or producing a project and getting the work published or exhibited is great, but much more is possible. This workshop will teach you to go beyond raising awareness. You will learn how to truly inform the public and change practices and policies. The one-day workshop will be held at the International Center of Photography in New York City on November 6, 2015. Participants in the program will be Whitney Johnson, former director of photography at The New Yorker who is now deputy director of photography at National Geographic; Tim Matsui, Alexia Women’s Initiative awardee who produced the “The Long Night” film; and Fred Ritchin, Dean of ICP. ViewFind Unveils Funding for New Visual Stories on Race and Ethnic Identity

ViewFind, a new social platform for visual stories, announced their inaugural Visual Storytelling Grants today, offering $5,000 to three photojournalists to explore the themes of racial, ethnic and cultural identity around the world. The ViewFind editorial team selected the theme of race and ethnic identity because they saw a need for more visual voices on some of the most pivotal issues facing the world today, including the protests against police violence in Ferguson, Missouri and the ongoing migration crisis across the Mediterranean. “We chose the theme of race because, well... how could we not?” said ViewFind Editorial Director Thea Breite, who helped establish the grants. “We have an opportunity and a responsibility to fund work that adds to important dialogue about these issues.” The grants will be awarded to photojournalists who submit their work for consideration via the ViewFind platform. MediaStorm Presents the 2015 ICP Infinity Awardee Films

MediaStorm is pleased to present a film series produced in collaboration with the International Center of Photography with support from Harbers Studios. Since 1985 ICP’s Infinity Awards have brought attention to outstanding achievements in photography by honoring individuals with distinguished careers in the field and identifying future luminaries.
