The 35th annual W. Eugene Smith Grant and awards presentation honors the very best in photojournalism and will take place on at the SVA Theater on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m. More than $40,000 in grants will be presented to this year's nominees, and anyone who is a fan of photojournalism or the very best in documentary photography will want to attend. New Economy Film Festival Now Accepting Submissions

The New Economy Film Festival, in collaboration with Working Films, will present compelling documentaries and shorts that explore both the failings of the current mainstream economy and the emerging movement to shape a more just and sustainable future. The festival is a two-day event to be held in New York City on October 18th and 19th 2014, during New Economy Week. Submission Details The festival is seeking submissions of relevant documentaries and short films. All projects that explore the current economic system (wealth inequality, money in politics, environmental crisis, etc.) or the emergence of a new economy (empowering local communities, worker-owned business, renewable energy, etc.) will be considered. Selected entries will be featured in the 2014 New Economy Film Festival. Application deadline is September 1st, 2014. Complete the application form online.

Eddie Adams Workshop Applications Due May 31st

The Eddie Adams Workshop will accept applications for its 27th Workshop, which will be held October 10-13, 2014, in Jeffersonville, New York, through May 31st. The Workshop is an intense four-day gathering of the top photography professionals, along with 100 carefully selected students. MediaStorm is pleased to present a film series produced in collaboration with the International Center of Photography with support from the Harbers Family Foundation. Since 1985 ICP’s Infinity Awards have brought attention to outstanding achievements in photography by honoring individuals with distinguished careers in the field and identifying future luminaries.
