UnionDocs Collaborative Studio Calls for Applicants

The UnionDocs Collaborative Studio (CoLAB) is now accepting applications for a 10-month program for a select group of media artists from the U.S. and abroad. Based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, CoLAB offers a platform for exploring contemporary approaches to the documentary arts and a process for developing an innovative collaborative project. Program Description The program consists of weekly production meetings, seminars, screenings and other public programs, along with regular masterclasses and critiques with visiting artists. In a pioneering study commissioned by World Press Photo, Dr. David Campbell examines current practices in multimedia against the background of the disruption in the traditional media economy and the revolution in how people consume news today. Visual Storytelling in the Age of Post-Industrialist Journalism The project, which ran from July 2012-April 2013, aims to map the global emergence and development of multimedia in visual storytelling, especially photojournalism. The study examines these issues through a comparative look at multimedia trends in three parts of the world: the USA, Europe, and China. New Media Award for Journalists in Developing Countries

The German Development Media Awards The German Development Media Awards is a new journalism prize supported by Deutsche Welle. The awards recognize excellence in human rights and development journalism and are an initiative of Deutsche Welle and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Submissions are open to journalists from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Germany. Entries can include stories in all journalistic formats in print, radio, TV and online. The stories should focus clearly on human rights and development and must have been published or broadcast between January 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2013. I Love Your Work, released today by Jonathan Harris, is an interactive documentary about the private lives of nine women who make lesbian porn. It consists of 2,202 10-second video clips, taken at five-minute intervals over 10 consecutive days. The full interactive website is limited to just 10 viewers per day, and tickets cost $10 each for 24-hour access.
