MediaStorm Wins Webby Award For 2013 ICP Infinity Awards Series

We are proud to announce that MediaStorm has won a prestigious 2014 Webby Award in the Documentary: Series category for our work on the 2013 ICP Infinity Awards. Other nominees in the category were wayfarer entertainment, Reel Nice, Time, and ESPN.com. The ICP Infinity Awards films were made possible with the generous support of the Harbers Family Foundation. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996, The Webby Awards received nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and over 60 countries worldwide this year. The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS).

Webby Awards Honors ‘Surviving the Peace,’ ‘Swan Song,’ and ‘2013 ICP Infinity Awards’

We are honored to have three of our projects recognized by The 18th Annual Webby Awards. Surviving the Peace: Angola has been selected as an Official Honoree in the Public Service & Activism category while Swan Song was selected as an Official Honoree in the Documentary: Individual Episode category. Out of 12,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 U.S. states submitted to the 18th Annual Webby Awards, the Official Honoree distinction is awarded to only the top 15% of all work entered. Our documentary series on the 2013 ICP Infinity Awards has been selected as a Nominee in the Documentary: Series category. NPPA Best of Photojournalism Awards 2014 Announced

MediaStorm is proud to announce that our video series for the International Center of Photography's 29th Annual Infinity Awards has been awarded Honorable Mention in the Best of Photojournalism Visual Column category. First place is MediaStorm contributor Scott Strazzante of the Chicago Tribune for "Shooting From The Hip." Second place is Barbara Davidson of the Los Angeles Times for Framework, and third place is Michele McNally and the staff of The New York Times for the LENS blog. MediaStorm was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Documentary Multimedia Story category for "Swan Song." The BoP Awards honored many excellent multimedia pieces this year. First place in the Multimedia Story category went to Rick Loomis of the Los Angeles Times for "A Soldier's Wife." “Swan Song” Receives 3rd Prize in 2014 World Press Photo Multimedia Contest

MediaStorm is proud to announce that Swan Song has been awarded 3rd Prize in the Online Feature category of the 2014 World Press Photo Multimedia Contest. Swan Song follows the story of Marilyn, diagnosed with dementia at age 58, and her daughters as they refocus their lives to care for her during her most precious years. They try to juggle it all until they are forced to make a heartbreaking decision. The film grew out of a project commissioned by the Neighborhood Centers Inc. to profile the organization’s work in the city of Houston. While documenting the stories of the people the organization works with everyday we discovered “The Greer Girls.” Swan Song takes a deeper look into this amazing family of women dealing with dementia, using their personal narrative to illustrate the struggles of families dealing with this difficult disease. MediaStorm Website Receives RTDNA’s 2013 Edward R. Murrow Award

We are honored to announce that MediaStorm has been recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) as a winner of a 2013 National Edward R. Murrow Award in the category of Website by a National Online News Organization. RTDNA is the world's largest professional organization devoted exclusively to electronic journalism, representing local and network journalists in broadcasting, cable and digital media in more than 30 countries. The Edward R. Murrow Awards has honored work of the highest quality produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world since 1971. "This year's winning entries are outstanding examples of electronic journalism at its finest," said Mike Cavender, Executive Director of RTDNA.
