MediaStorm Now Accepting Fall Internship Applications

We’re currently accepting applications for our Fall 2013 internship. If you’re motivated, highly organized, and passionate about multimedia, we’d love to hear from you. The internship generally runs from September to December, but start dates are flexible. We’re looking for applicants with experience in multimedia production, design, motion graphics, and/or web development. Internships are paid. MediaStorm Guide to Nudging in Premiere Pro CC

This article is part of a new series of posts with tips and tricks from our producers' experience working with Adobe Production Pro after years of working in Final Cut Pro. A great new feature in Adobe Premiere Pro CC is the ability to nudge clips up and down tracks using only the keyboard. To set a shortcut, simply open the Premiere Pro > Keyboard Shortcuts… menu. Then, search for “clip.” You’ll want to add shortcuts for Nudge Clip Selection Up and Nudge Clip Selection Down. We use Command-Up Arrow and Command-Down Arrow, respectively since they are similar to the default shortcuts for nudging clips left (Command-Left Arrow) and right (Command-Left Arrow). The American family farm gives way to a subdivision - a critical cultural shift across the U.S. Common Ground is a 14-year document of this transition, through the Cagwins and the Grabenhofers, two families who love the same plot of land. See the project at http://mediastorm.com/publication/common-ground In 2008, MediaStorm had the privilege of working with Chicago Tribune photographer Scott Strazzante on Common Ground, bringing to life his documentation of the disappearance of the American family farm, and the grave cultural and environmental impact of the resulting suburban sprawl. In over 14 years of looking and listening, Scott set judgment aside as he explored the evolution of one plot of Illinois farmland, and the people who live their lives there. WKU Mountain Workshops Accepting Applications July 1st

Every autumn Western Kentucky University’s (WKU) Mountain Workshops draw a team of dedicated teachers and determined learners to a small Kentucky town to explore the richness of community, the beauty of landscape, and the possibilities and challenges of visual storytelling. This year’s workshops will take place October 15 - 20, 2013. Application Guidelines Applications will be accepted online started July 1, 2013. Registration will remain open until all three classes reach capacity. Workshop Details Participants can select from one of three workshops: The Photojournalism Workshop focuses on still photography, as coaches and participants explore individual character, the give and take of relationships, the deeply-felt sense of belonging to a place and the pride of participating in a shared heritage. The Picture Editing Workshop draws on the design sensibilities and electronic publishing expertise of its coaches to help participants learn to weave photographs and text together into memorable narratives. This is what editing feels like.

You are alone in a dark room. Across the floor are the scattered pieces of three or four or five floor lamps. You don’t know how many. There are screws and bulbs and fixtures mixed together. You try not to panic as you feel your way across the floor in search of these pieces. It does not matter how many times you’ve done this exercise before. Each time you do it, it feels like the first. People tell you, you’ve done it before, you can do it again. But they don’t know what it feels like to be in the dark room searching blindly. Your work is meticulous.
