The Ways: Sharing Contemporary Native Culture Through Story

Finn Ryan, a producer, educator and March 2011 MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop participant is a big believer in the importance of storytelling in education. His 2010 project, Climate Wisconsin, which uses multimedia and interactives to explore local climate change impacts, received significant attention when it was published, including a regional Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for Informational/Instructional Programming. His most recent project, The Ways, produced with Wisconsin Media Lab, features storytelling as a means to share contemporary Native culture and language from around the central Great Lakes. NPPA Best of Photojournalism Deadlines Approaching

The NPPA Best of Photojournalism 2013 Competition deadlines are approaching. NPPA holds annual contests developed by photojournalists for Still Photojournalism, Video Photojournalism, Photojournalism Editing and Multimedia Photojournalism. The deadline for Video Photojournalism is January 25, 3pm EST. The deadline for Still Photojournalism, Photojournalism Editing and Multimedia Photojournalism is February 1, 3pm EST. All of the contests for this year have reconsidered the categories to improve the competition. In the Still Photojournalism contest, categories have been added for the Olympics, the Road to Office and Features. Other changes have been made to clarify the categories to improve the competition. MediaStorm Summer Internship Deadline Extended

MediaStorm Guide to Creating Freeze Frames in Adobe Premiere Pro

Adobe Premiere Pro offers several ways to create a freeze frame from a video clip. Here are three options. Hold Video This is the most straightforward method. In the timeline place your playhead on the frame you’d like to freeze. Then create a splice (Command-Shift-K). Next, and this is important,select the clip. Then, from theClip menu, select Video Options > Frame Hold. In the Frame Hold Options Window select Hold On and In Point from the drop down menu. Your entire clip with change to your select frame.
