PhotoShelter Hosts First Luminance Conference in New York

Next week PhotoShelter will be hosting Luminance 2012, a fresh new conference that will bring together leading voices from across industries to answer the question: What’s next for photography? This two-day conference will feature two dozen top speakers from a variety of organizations that help to create, consume and define photography in a myriad of ways. Each speaker will present a 20-minute TED-style talk on a topic relevant to their area of expertise. A brief Q&A will follow each session. Photographers, technologists, designers and those who care about the direction of photography are encouraged to attend. Five Days Left to Apply for MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop

The MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop is looking for seasoned storytelling professionals looking to expand their capabilities with an intensive, hands-on training experience. At the MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop participants will collaborate with a hand-picked team of professional storytellers to research, shoot and produce a documentary project in just one week. Each participant will work as a field reporter, editor or observer as part of a crew dedicated to the telling of one story. The resulting projects from the MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop are high-quality, impactful pieces. Previous workshop projects have been honored with NPPA Best of Photojournalism awards, Picture of the Year International awards and Webby nominations, among other honors. MediaStorm 2013 Workshop Dates Announced

We are excited to be entering into our sixth training year at MediaStorm. Each year our workshops attract leading industry professionals looking to advance their multimedia and storytelling skills. We've now had more than 100 participants come through our professional workshops and we continue to be humbled by how much they take away from the experience. John Temple, now managing editor at the Washington Post, told us that our Methodology Workshop gave him, "time to stop and step into a different way of seeing journalism."
