The Quincy Herald-Whig is now accepting applications to its brand new paid internship program (the Quinternship) in Quincy, Illinois. The award-winning staff of 3 photographers is searching for interns who have the skills and desire to shoot multimedia projects. There will be plenty of opportunity for the selected applicant to shoot a wide-range of stills, video, and multimedia pieces. The purpose behind the Quinternship Paid Internship Program is to offer students in the field of journalism, broadcasting, communication and related fields the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in broadcast television, radio, and digital information.  Students who participate (Interns) will gain a wide variety of practical experience and will receive an hourly wage.  The company strives to offer this opportunity to a diverse group of Interns. In this unique photographic event, hundreds of thousands of people will work together to create a unique documentation of daily life. Culture Unplugged Studios - a new media studio focused on leveraging the power of new media to promote socially and spiritually sensitive stories by a global community of conscious storytellers, culture explorers and world citizens - seeks submissions for its We Speak Here online film festival. The festival is an event which aspires to bring an intimate view from life of another fellow being, reflecting our own challenges and opportunities for individual transformation - revealing underlying light & shadows of our present existence, and exploring life’s purpose leading to future. The Pictures of the Year International competition recognized two MediaStorm projects, A Darkness Visible: Afghanistan, and A Thousand More. In its 69th year, POYi honors the world's best photographers, newspapers, editors, and multimedia producers. A Darkness Visible: Afghanistan, was recognized as both a Finalist in the Documentary Project of the Year category, and honored with an Award of Excellence in the Long Form Documentary category. In addition, A Thousand More, produced during a MediaStorm Advanced Storytelling Workshop, was honored with an Award of Excellence in the category of Feature Multimedia Story. Congratulations to all of this year's POYi winners. 

MediaStorm is excited to welcome Katie Orlinsky  to our team as the 2012 summer intern. Katie Orlinsky is a photographer from New York City. Katie received a B.A. in Political Science/Latin American Studies from the Colorado College. Her long-held interest in international politics and a desire to raise awareness on social and humanitarian issues led Katie to journalism, and upon graduation she moved to Oaxaca, Mexico where she got her start as a photographer. Katie is a Corbis contributor, and regularly works for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and various non-profit organizations. Her work has been published in Time, Newsweek, Le Monde, Stern, and Paris Match among other magazines. Katie was awarded the Prix Ani-PixPalace for her photographic series "Life on the Tracks: Central American Migration in Mexico” in 2010 and the POYi Emerging Vision Incentive in 2011 to support her ongoing project “Innocence Assassinated: Living in Mexico’s Drug…
