Robert Frank Film Festival

If you’re in Santa Fe, NM from August 3-5, you can check out the Robert Frank Film Festival, put on by Center and the Film Center at Cinemacafé. While many people know Frank for his still images, notably ‘The Americans’, he was also very interested in using films as a means to express what he could not say in a still image. He made over 25 films in his lifetime. The Festival will show 12 of the films over the 3 days, and his complete film works will be available on DVD at the site (or, you can pre-order the DVD through photo-eye)

The Guardian: Sean Smith covers Iraq

British photojournalist Sean Smith has been covering Iraq since early 2003 for the Guardian. In his trips over there, he has photographed everything from horse races in Baghdad to Iraqi mental hospitals to the daily lives of the soldiers on the ground. During a two-month embed with the U.S. Army’s Second Infantry Division, Smith spent two weeks filming the Apache Company. The resulting video is a powerful look at the daily lives of the soldiers, and the exhaustion and disillusionment that many of them are feeling.

American Road Trip

For anyone dreaming of an extended summer vacation, check out the American Road Trip in the New York Times Travel section. Back in May, reporter Matt Gross bought a 1989 Volvo on Craigslist, and is now in week 8 of a three-month road trip across the US. His goal is to spend around $100/day (hence the site title: Frugal Traveler). Each week, the site is updated with new postings, a video from the week's journey, and an interactive map following his journey.

Description: ABQjournal seeks a journalist to join our multimedia newsroom to be the primary source of high quality video editorial and advertising content. Demonstrated experience with Final Cut Pro, AVID or equivalent software is required. Photoshop and Flash experience are a plus. MediaStorm Twice Nominated for Broadband Emmy

MediaStorm is a two-time nominee for this year's broadband Emmy award. Kingsley's Crossing by Olivier Jobard and BLOODLINE: AIDS and Family by Kristen Ashburn were both recognized in the Outstanding Documentary/Nonfiction Programming category.
