Editing Theory from Walter Murch

In the Blink of an Eye is a series of short essays originally written in 1995 by Academy Award Winning editor Walter Murch. Murch tries to tackle the question of why moviegoers are not more startled and confused when shown the disconnected images that ultimately make up a film. His realizations are not only pertinet to visual journalists, they are also relevant to those editing for the internet. Interestingly, Murch edited 1993's Cold Mountain using Apple's Final Cut Pro and has since become a Final Cut evangelist.

MediaStorm Produces Nina Berman’s ‘Soldier’s Boy’ for AARP Bulletin

MediaStorm worked with award-winning photojournalist Nina Berman to produce a story entitled Soldier's Boy for AARP Bulletin. The story chronicles the parents of a fallen soldier as they struggle to raise the young son she left behind without the financial benefit the government normally gives to next-of-kin.

MediaStorm Awash with New Talent

Over the last 8-months MediaStorm has grown it's production capabilities by bringing aboard four top-tier multimedia professionals. The most recent addition is Multimedia Producer Chad Stevens. Before joining MediaStorm Chad was studying as a master's degree candidate at School of Visual Communication at Ohio University. Prior to that, he worked as a faculty member at Western Kentucky University's photojournalism program. In 2002, he spent a year living in East Africa producing multimedia projects for Save the Children, AIDchild, Literacy and Basic Education and the Global Food for Education Initiative. The National Press Photographers Association’s Best of Photojournalism 2007 competition has awarded MediaStorm First Place, Best Multimedia Package - Independent Sites for Kingsley's Crossing by Olivier Jobarad and Third Place, Best Multimedia Package - Independent Sites for BLOODLINE: AIDS and Family by Kristen Ashburn.
