Pictures of the Year International is proud to launch its 74th competition to honor the world's premier documentary photography, photojournalism, and visual editing. Pictures of the Year International is the oldest and most prestigious photojournalism program in the world.  When you enter POY, your work reaches out to citizens worldwide and becomes a part of visual history. Join Brian Storm at CUNY for Storytelling Workshop

Join multimedia pioneer and MediaStorm founder Brian Storm for an overview of documentary video and multimedia storytelling approaches on December 8, from 7-9pm at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. Last week’s Presidential election in the United States left many feeling uncertain about the country’s future. It was by any measure a divisive election season. So we’d like to take a moment to reiterate MediaStorm’s core beliefs. Unequivocally, we support the inalienable rights and dignity of every person without regard to race, religion, class, sexual orientation and gender identity, or any other facet of our humanity. We reject the hateful attitudes that have been prominent throughout this election season and stand in solidarity with communities of color, Muslims, immigrants, refugees and displaced people, African Americans, disabled people, LGBTQ people, and any other group that has been targeted. The Last Move Launches Today on Short of the Week

We are thrilled that one of MediaStorm’s latest films, The Last Move, has been selected by Short of the Week and is today’s pick. Short of the Week is an online, year-round film festival for shorts that has been discovering and promoting the greatest and most innovative stories from around the world since 2007. The Last Move tells the story of Michael Thomasson, who has passionately spent a lifetime amassing the world’s largest video game collection and is recognized by the Guinness Book of World’s Records. But with his mother sick and facing an enormous mortgage, Michael decides to put his collection up for sale, and hopes that someone will pay enough to cover his costs.
