MediaStorm Guide to Google Docs Add-ons

At MediaStom, we edit all of our transcripts in Google Docs. It’s a great tool for real-time collaboration. When two people work on the same document, I can actually see my colleague’s edits as they happen.

Recently, Google introduced a new feature, Add-ons. Think of them as extensions for Google Docs that work across all browsers.

To get started, in an open Doc select the menu Add-ons > Get Ad-ons…

A pop-up window will appear, displaying available add-ons.

NPPA Best of Photojournalism Awards 2014 Announced

MediaStorm is proud to announce that our video series for the International Center of Photography's 29th Annual Infinity Awards has been awarded Honorable Mention in the Best of Photojournalism Visual Column category. First place is MediaStorm contributor Scott Strazzante of the Chicago Tribune for "Shooting From The Hip." Second place is Barbara Davidson of the Los Angeles Times for Framework, and third place is Michele McNally and the staff of The New York Times for the LENS blog. MediaStorm was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Documentary Multimedia Story category for "Swan Song." The BoP Awards honored many excellent multimedia pieces this year. First place in the Multimedia Story category went to Rick Loomis of the Los Angeles Times for "A Soldier's Wife." Second place is The New York Times for "Invisible Child: Dasani's Homeless Life." A story called "The Jockey" by Chang W. On Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 the W. Euguene Smith Memorial Fund will host At the Top of the World: Photography Today with Kira Pollack in Conversation with Jonathan D. Woods at Aperture Gallery and Bookstore at 6:30 p.m.

A $5 donation is requested for entry. This event is free for students with I.D. and Members of Aperture at the $50 level and above.
