Summary

The Information Graphic Designer will help design and produce graphics and data visualizations to be used in web and interactive projects for the Council’s website. Responsibilities will include: creating graphic visualizations for online editorial publications, including backgrounders, timelines, maps, and slideshows; adding graphics to the InfoGuide series; working with the CFR.org multimedia team to establish production timelines; and translating complex concepts and data on foreign policy issues into visual images.

Crisis Guide: Iran Receives Overseas Press Club Award for Online Excellence

Crisis Guide: Iran produced by MediaStorm and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) received the 2011 Overseas Press Club (OPC) award for Web: Online General Excellence. The OPC awards have been recognizing online journalism since the 1940s and this year they added six new categories for online coverage to acknowledge the changing media landscape. Crisis Guide: Iran was honored for its superb use of multimedia in a timely and in-depth study of Iran’s politics, economy and nuclear program. The seven-chapter publication was recognized for using interactive graphics, archival slideshows, graphs, timelines and video interviews to showcase the history and government of the country in a visually pleasing and accessible way. MediaStorm and the International Institutions and Global Governance (IIGG) program at the Council on Foreign Relations have collaborated to launch the latest component of the Global Governance Monitor, on Oceans. Oceans are literally the source of life on earth. They shape the climate, feed the world, and cleanse the air we breathe. But the world’s oceans are being threatened by a dizzying array of dangers, from piracy to climate change. The Council on Foreign Relations, in collaboration with MediaStorm, has launched the second section of their Global Governance Monitor, an in-depth look at multilateral responses to today’s pressing global challenges. Finance looks at the world's economy through time, from the Bretton Woods Agreements in 1944 to today. Incorporating a map, an interactive timeline, and a comprehensive overview, the Global Governance Monitor aims to shed light on our economic history, providing information as we lead up to the G20 summit. The Program on International Institutions and Global Governance (IIGG) at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) aims to identify the institutional requirements for effective multilateral cooperation in the twenty-first century.
