Interactive Narratives 2.0

If you haven't seen it yet, head over to Interactive Narratives, and check out their newly relaunched site.  Originally launched by Andrew DeVigal in 2003, Interactive Narratives is back and better than ever. On the new site, users can view, rate, and submit stories, chat in the forums, check out gear reviews and interviews with multimedia journalists- it's designed to be a "gathering place for multimedia journalists."  With backing from the Online News Association, it will be exciting to see where this goes.

Multimedia Training Opportunities

For those interested in multimedia training, both the Knight Digital Media Center and the NPPA have upcoming seminars. The Knight Digital Media Center at the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism, is currently accepting Fellowship applications for: Multimedia Reporting Training Seminars May 18 – 23; June 8 – 13; and July 6- 11, 2008 Application deadline for all workshops is APRIL 11, 2008 The Knight Digital Media Center Multimedia Training Program is accepting applications for 20 fellowships per workshop for journalists to attend these seminars that combine practical instruction in multimedia reporting with in-depth exploration of issues in online publishing. We are accepting concurrent applications for workshops being offered in May, June and July 2008. Applicants may apply to one, two or all three workshops. Because we receive far more applications than we can accommodate, applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple workshops to increase their chances of being accepted…

Talking to the Taliban

The Globe and Mail has created another stunning multimedia presentation, Talking to the Taliban. From their site: A portrait of average Taliban fighters in Kandahar has emerged from a research project by The Globe and Mail. An interviewer gained unprecedented access to insurgent groups in five districts of the province, and emerged from the dangerous assignment with 42 video recordings of fighters answering a standardized list of questions. It's a unique look at Canada's front-line opponents in the war.
