Interactive Narratives 2.0

If you haven't seen it yet, head over to Interactive Narratives, and check out their newly relaunched site.  Originally launched by Andrew DeVigal in 2003, Interactive Narratives is back and better than ever. On the new site, users can view, rate, and submit stories, chat in the forums, check out gear reviews and interviews with multimedia journalists- it's designed to be a "gathering place for multimedia journalists."  With backing from the Online News Association, it will be exciting to see where this goes.

Job Opening- Interactive Multimedia Producer/Programmer

The Knight Center for International Media at the School of Communication, University of Miami is seeking a highly experienced Interactive Multimedia Producer/Programmer with an emphasis on development and multiplatform delivery. A master's degree in a related field is preferred but not required. This individual will be building and extending a rich set of tools, systems and applications to support journalistic storytelling and content distribution to worldwide audiences. The University of Miami School of Communication Knight Center for International Media works closely with Universities, media organizations and citizens around the world and this hire must be able to adapt and interface with a broad spectrum of servers and technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising teams working on Center's multimedia projects and conduct specialized multimedia workshops for faculty, staff and students. Ed Kashi at George Eastman House this Friday

If you're near Rochester, NY this Friday (June 27), don't miss the exhibition party for Ed Kashi's new book/project Curse of the Black Gold: 50 Years of Oil in the Niger Delta.  The exhibition is up now through September 1, 2008. Friday's exhibition party will be held from 7-9:30 pm.  While you're at the museum, you can also check out work from Eli Reed's Black in America and Machines of Memory: Cameras from the Technology Collection.

Curse of the Black Gold by Ed Kashi

Ed Kashi has recently released his latest project- Curse of the Black Gold: 50 Years of Oil in the Niger Delta. Looking at the effect the past 50 years of oil exploitation has had on Nigeria's environment and society, this is a powerful project that is not to be missed. Between the book, a multimedia project, and a website with a blog and tons of links, there is a lot of really great material to pore over here.

2008 Soul of Athens Launched

The 2008 edition of Soul of Athens has launched. Produced by the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University, this year's group looked at Wellness within the Athens County, Ohio, community. 30 stories are grouped into the categories Mind, Body, Spirit, and Place. It's well worth the time spent to go through the site, there are quite a few excellent projects in here. If you somehow missed the amazing (and multiple award-winning) compilation of stories last year, be sure to check the 2007 project out, too.
