MediaStorm Advanced Multimedia Workshops launch new projects

During the week of September 19-25, 2009, we brought 6 talented professionals together to collaborate with the MediaStorm team at the fifth MediaStorm Advanced Multimedia Reporting Workshop. Family Kocktail by Deanne Fitzmaurice, Stan Alcorn and Doug Grant Kryssy Kocktail always dreamed of leaving her troubled family to join the circus. Now she eats fire and sits on an electric chair as a performer at the Coney Island Circus Sideshow. She also realized her dream of being part of a family. See the project. MediaStorm’s 2009 Workshop Dates Announced

Dates for the 2009 MediaStorm Advanced Multimedia Reporting Workshops have been announced: Workshop Four: March 7-13, 2009 - Application Deadline: Friday January 23, 2009 Workshop Five: May 2-8, 2009 - Application Deadline: Monday March 30, 2009 Workshop Six: August 8-14, 2009 - Application Deadline: Wednesday July 1, 2009 The MediaStorm Multimedia Reporting Workshop in New York City is an intensive, hands-on educational experience in advanced multimedia storytelling. Over the course of a week, participants will work in three-person teams, reporting and editing in collaboration with a MediaStorm Producer to create a multimedia project for distribution across multiple platforms. Multimedia Training Opportunities

For those interested in multimedia training, both the Knight Digital Media Center and the NPPA have upcoming seminars. The Knight Digital Media Center at the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism, is currently accepting Fellowship applications for: Multimedia Reporting Training Seminars May 18 – 23; June 8 – 13; and July 6- 11, 2008 Application deadline for all workshops is APRIL 11, 2008 The Knight Digital Media Center Multimedia Training Program is accepting applications for 20 fellowships per workshop for journalists to attend these seminars that combine practical instruction in multimedia reporting with in-depth exploration of issues in online publishing. We are accepting concurrent applications for workshops being offered in May, June and July 2008. Applicants may apply to one, two or all three workshops. Because we receive far more applications than we can accommodate, applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple workshops to increase their chances of being accepted…
