Dana Schiopu

Dana Schiopu a Romanian and French, graduated in Journalism at the West University of Timisoara, Romania and Political Science in Toulouse, France.


In her current position of Senior Media Officer at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, she is leading the Feature Video and Photography team by producing and supervising the production of broadcast quality news and feature videos as well as directing and managing of staff photographers, cinematographers, editors and production assistants of the IMF.


Her career began in Romania in 1993, as a journalist-correspondent in Timsoara for different newspapers including Evenimentul Zilei and Vest Matinal. In 1996 she moved to France where, after an internship at France Press Agency in Paris and some collaborations with International French Radio, she started working for Reuters Television as a TV Producer covering news and feature stories. She also collaborated on different projects with CNN in Paris, ABC Australia "Foreign Correspondent", BBC Scotland and ITN.


In 2007, she moved to Morocco where she produced news and feature stories for APTN news and feature magazine Horizon as well as for other TV channels like Al Jazeera English, TV magazine 48, BBC Scotland in Westerna Sahara and ITN.


Before joining the IMF in November 2012, she was in charge of the broadcast video communication of the second-largest political Group in the European Parliament in Brussels, the Socialists and Democrats, where she redesigned the entire broadcast video communication of the Group."


Dana participated in the August 2013 MediaStorm Methodology Workshop. She had the following to say about her experience:
