Lauren Rosenfeld

Lauren Rosenfeld

Former Staff, Intern and Producer

As a freelance video producer, Lauren has worked on a variety of educational films, multimedia content for the Web, public television series and independent documentary films.

She settled in the Bay Area after producing two documentaries in Chile, including Watershed, which screened at film festivals and environmental forums around the world. Her other credits include Coordinating Producer of the George Lucas Educational Foundation’s Digital Generation Project and Consulting Producer for the PBS series E2: The Economies of Being Environmentally Conscious.

She was the Associate Producer at Talking Eyes Media, where she managed the production and outreach campaign for the documentary film, Collateral Damage and co-produced the Iraqi Kurdistan Flipbook for MediaStorm. Lauren worked for Propeller Films on two documentary features, including The Recruiter, which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was broadcast on HBO. She was also a Production Assistant for FRONTLINE and Assistant Editor on the Emmy Award-winning film, Made in LA.

Lauren was a summer intern at MediaStorm in 2011. Here is what she had to say about that experience:

My experience at MediaStorm came at a critical time, as I was developing my thesis documentary film in graduate school. In just three months at MediaStorm, I learned editing techniques and storytelling skills that were essential for me to realize my vision for Captive Radio, the first documentary I solely wrote, directed, produced and edited. Those skills continued to be an important part of my creative process for future projects. In addition, I was very fortunate to work on a MediaStorm project that won an Emmy Award for New Approaches to News and Documentary Programming. My experience and association with MediaStorm have also been influential for the development of my career because of the caliber of the work and MediaStorm's reputation and respect among producers, filmmakers, journalists and media organizations.

After a summer at MediaStorm, I completed my Masters in Journalism at UC Berkeley. My thesis documentary film, Captive Radio, screened at film festivals around the world, won Best Short Documentary at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and was nominated for an International Documentary Association award. After completing my Masters, I worked with the Investigative Reporting Program on a feature documentary for PBS FRONTLINE and then went on to produce investigative current affairs documentaries for the Al Jazeera series Fault Lines. I received two Emmy nominations for that work. I have since been working as a freelance reporter, producer and story producer, most recently for the Netflix series Bobby Kennedy for President and a feature documentary currently in production for CNN Films.
