Nadia Hallgren

Director of Photography

Nadia Hallgren is an award winning filmmaker and cinematographer from The Bronx, NY. With a focus on verite cinematography her Director of Photography credits include most recently Sundance award winner Motherland (Berlinale 2017), the Academy Award Nominated and Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Trouble The Water (2008), Sundance award winner Trapped (2016), Tribeca Film Festival winner Untouchable (2016), Tough Love (POV 2015), Citizen Koch (Sundance 2013) and SXSW award winner War Don Don (HBO 2011).

Nadia has also contributed photography to many noted documentaries including Michael Moore's Cannes Palme d’or winner Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004), Academy Award winner Searching for Sugarman (2012), The Hunting Ground (Sundance CNN 2015), and Suited (Sundance, HBO 2016).

With over a decade of experience in documentary films Nadia has collaborated closely with filmmakers that include Laura Poitras, Kirsten Johnson, Dawn Porter, Tia Lessin and Carl Deal. Nadia's award winning short film Love Lockdown was funded by CineReach and premiered at the 2010 SXSW film festival. Her other film Sanza Hanza , a documentary about teenage train surfers in Soweto, South Africa aired on 2009 PBS.

Nadia is an Alum of International Center of Photography and a CineReach fellow.
