Will Atwater

23: October 2019

William Atwater is a digital storyteller and videographer with experience producing educational and non-profit outreach material. He holds a graduate degree in journalism from the University of Illinois and a graduate certificate in Documentary Media Studies from the New School University. From 1994-2001, Will served as garden director for Southeastern Efforts Developing Sustainable Spaces (SEEDS), a Durham-based nonprofit that supported development of community-controlled green spaces serving low-income communities of color. His journalism and film training is directly tied to his goal to convey stories of people and their communities.

Will participated in the October 2019 MediaStorm Methodology Workshop. He had the following to say about his experience:

Prior to attending the MediaStorm Methodology workshop, my partner and I had an idea for a documentary project that we felt was best suited to be produced in a multimedia format. However, the prospect of turning the idea into reality seemed daunting at best until we contacted Brian Storm and attended the workshop. During the workshop Brian deconstructs the MediaStorm production process, which includes sharing how the organization’s new media player takes multimedia storytelling to the next level. Through MediaStorm Methodology workshop, Brian shares with us the necessary tools to create compelling multimedia projects. I definitely recommend the MediaStorm Methodology workshop to anyone interested in taking their digital storytelling skills to the next level.
