Long Bio:

An experienced field producer, Ms Champagne has covered national and international events for over 20 years, including 9/11, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Based in London for over ten years, Ms Champagne recently moved to Geneva to head up the video unit of UNHCR.

Anticipating that news would be consumed more readily in the online environment, Ms. Champagne, has spent the last 5 years adapting by becoming a multi-skilled digital producer with an excellent understanding of how the news gathering process is changing to match the internet age. She trains and advises journalists around the world and was instrumental in the success of international news conferences such as News Xchange, the Arab Broadcast Forum, and Digital News Affairs. Ms. Champagne has recently done work for the CBC, Reuters, UN agencies, and The NY Times.

Holder of a Master in International Relations from London School of Economics and a recipient of a Gemini Award, Ms Champagne is a keen observer of new media and the convergence of newspapers and web production.

Edith participated in the November 2011 MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop. She had the following to say about her experience:

Testimonial:

Brian Storm's instructions, insights, project vision style, as well as his editing abilities made me see a different way of working. At MediaStorm there is a desire to find character driven 'emotionalism' and 'truth' that is raw and revealing, both with video and pictures. The marriage then, of the two mediums, is what I find inspiring about MediaStorm's work.

My own future projects will certainly benefit from this approach. At the same time, being exposed to working with a DSLR, helped me understand its appeal as well as its challenges. My week with MediaStorm provided me with an enhanced view of notable video production.
