What really matters in the telling of a story? How does a journalist make viewers care about their subject? What are the tools that will carry today's communicators into the next chapter of journalism?

MediaStorm's June, 2009, Advanced Multimedia Workshop provided a think tank where eight professionals could work with senior multimedia producers to grapple with these questions. It was an intense hands-on experience, as participants spent seven days reporting, photographing, collecting audio and video, and then editing their stories. Each came out of the week with new inspiration, as well as the spark to elevate photojournalism for themselves and the next generation of great multimedia storytellers.

Behind the Scenes: Workshop 4 documents the Summer 2009 MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop, where participants worked alongside MediaStorm staff to create an intimate, character-driven documentary in just one week.
