about

In May of 2008, two teams of seasoned photojournalists — including one Pulitzer-prize-winning photographer — found themselves back at square one, at the MediaStorm Advanced Multimedia Workshop. One participant said it was like "two years of journalism school in just one day," as she fumbled with video, still photography, and audio reporting for her team's story. Yet she was smiling from ear to ear!

The goal of all this discomfort: to give these learners new skills to tell their stories. For one week, with the guidance of experienced multimedia producers, they were allowed to expand and grow and explore the tools that will elevate the future of journalism.

Brian Storm, creator of MediaStorm, is hopeful that with such training and evolution, journalism will not only survive the current closing of newspapers and shrinking of staffs, but will thrive in the fertile climate of the internet.
