MediaStorm’s 2015 Year in Review

2015 was an important milestone in MediaStorm’s history. With the support of our entire community, we were able to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. It’s been a decade since we created our first story, and we’ve continued to push the art and form of storytelling in myriad ways. Here’s are some of the highlights from 2015:

We were honored to be nominated for two Emmys for our collaboration with Pieter ten Hoopen on Hungry Horse and with Shiho Fukada on Japan’s Disposable Workers.

Travel Anonymous took us inside Jeff Hutchen’s life on the road. A stunning combination of Jeff’s photography and MediaStorm motion graphics, Travel Anonymous is a unique addition to the MediaStorm Publication.

For the third year in a row, we partnered with our friends at the International Center of Photography and Harbers Studio to produce films to honor the legacies of the 2015 winners of the Infinity Awards.

Shine On tells the story of Tiffany Persons, the Founder of Shine On Sierra Leone, and her quest to have impact in one of the world’s most impoverished countries.

What is an innovator? We partnered with the Wall St. Journal to discover what it is that drives the world’s greatest innovators in fashion, literature, entertainment, technology, design, art, and brand. The 2015 Innovator Award films celebrate those who dare to push the boundaries of their field and in so doing, inspire a new generation.

In November, we launched a new partnership with Verse, an immersive interactive storytelling platform, with Connected to the Top, the first of four stories we are launching with Verse. Connected to the Top is about the incredible strength, courage, and passion that propels today’s top climbers to risk their lives for the glory of reaching the world’s greatest heights.

2015 was also a year of firsts–notably our first fully animated film. Guardians of the Forest, explores why sustainable forestry management may just be one of the most important tools for safeguarding the world’s precious natural resources.

The MediaStorm Platform launched two exciting new partnerships this year. The Sundance Institute leveraged the power of the MediaStorm Platform to distribute the winning films of the 2015 Sundance Short Film Challenge.

The Trials of Spring, a major cross media documentary event that chronicles the stories of nine women on the frontlines of the Arab uprisings, partnered with MediaStorm to develop its website, and leverage the power of the Platform to distribute its short films. We also used this opportunity to launch a new line of business–partnering with organizations to lead its digital distribution and social media promotion strategies.

And last but not least, is our 2015 motion graphics reel, showcasing how we use this art form to take our stories to the next level.

Looking ahead to 2016, we are excited about launching our first original feature length film called Fight Hate with Love. And, we’d love to see you at one of our workshops:

February 20 One-day Workshop
April 16 One-day Workshop
June 11 One-day Workshop
August 8-12 Methodology Workshop
September 17 One-day Workshop
November 12 One-day Workshop
Dec. 12-16 Methodology Workshop

None of this would have been possible without your support. Thank you for helping us tell stories that matter with the depth they deserve.
