John Brecher

19: December 2016 and Cinematographer

John Brecher’s career in photojournalism began with newspapers including the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner in Alaska and the Jackson Hole News in Wyoming. Next came freelance multimedia projects for msnbc.com, notably a 65-day assignment following the Olympic Torch Relay and two months covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in coastal Mississippi. Brecher spent the last ten years on staff at NBC News, shooting stories across America and internationally. He's now freelancing in Livermore, CA.

John participated in the December 2016 MediaStorm Methodology Master Class. He had the following to say about his experience:

MediaStorm's methodology workshop helped me understand the business of video storytelling as I left a media company to work for myself. I'd recommend it to anyone considering leaving a job to work independently in visual storytelling.
