    Documenting Dual Eligibility

Melissa is a single mother of six who went blind suddenly about a decade ago. Ann is a mostly non-verbal woman requiring around-the-clock-care at a group home. Both women are dual eligible, meaning they qualify for Medicare and Medicaid benefits.

In Documenting Dual Eligibility, photojournalist Isadora Kosofsky dives into Melissa’s and Ann’s daily lives as they face the challenges of their conditions while navigating their health care needs.

In two intimate films produced by CatchLight and MediaStorm and made possible in part with support from Arnold Ventures, Kosofsky captures the positivity of the women’s personalities and the complexities of their daily lives while exploring the challenges and protections offered by the dual-eligibility healthcare model.

Melissa, a single mother from California, suddenly lost her vision. Her disability makes Melissa dual eligible, meaning she qualifies for both Medicare and Medicaid.

Ann lives in a home for women with developmental disabilities. Bound to a wheelchair and non-verbal, Ann’s disabilities make her dual eligible, meaning she qualifies for both Medicare and Medicaid.
