Jacky is an award-winning interactive designer and developer currently working at the New York Times as a multimedia editor. Her work at MediaStorm has been recognized by The Emmys, The Society of News Design, Webbys and the Overseas Press Club. Before her time at MediaStorm, she was a multimedia producer for Condé Nast and an interactive designer with The Associated Press. Her interactives at Portfolio.com were part of a portfolio that won silver from MALOFIEJ. She is a speaker at the TED2013 conference in Long Beach, talking about her work in interactives narratives and journalism.
She hails from Duke University with a B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Visual Arts and received her M.F.A. in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design.
Originally from Suffolk, Va., Jacky currently lives in Brooklyn and enjoys running half marathons and exploring her neighborhood.
Jacky was an interactive designer at MediaStorm from 2009 to 2011. Here is what she had to say about that experience:
I think without MediaStorm I would not have been able to accomplish what I have been able to since working there. Brian and my coworkers at MediaStorm really helped me understand what makes an engaging narrative, especially visually.
After MediaStorm, I went on to the New York Times where I was able to use what I learned at MediaStorm, working on digital narratives that combined various media elements like video, photos, graphics and text in a way that best told the story. A good example of this was Snow Fall and working on that project led to me being a speaker at the TED conference in 2013.
Currently I am living in Barcelona, Spain working as a freelancer for clients like the New York Times and The Council on Foreign Relations.
