Nadine Ijewere (b1992) is a south-east London born photographer. Her work focuses primarily on the subjects of identity and diversity, informed by her own Nigerian / Jamaican background. She is drawn to non-traditional faces with the aim of showcasing a new standard of beauty and giving life to the uniqueness of disparate cultures. While at school, Nadine took up photography among her more academic subjects. But she found herself drawn to the creative side and went on to study photography at UAL’s London College of Fashion.
Leaving university, she went straight into taking her own pictures, crediting social media with helping her to establish relationships with collaborators casting models from Instagram, and enabling her to gradually build her reputation.
Ijewere shoots for numerous publications such as WSJ magazine , British Vogue , Vogue US , Vogue Italia , Luncheon , More or Less .Her January 2019 cover story with Dua Lipa, Binx Walton and Letitia Wright made Ijewere the first woman of colour to shoot the cover of any Vogue edition in the magazine’s 125-year history. she has also worked with Dior, Hermes, Stella McCartney, Nina Ricci and Valentino Red, creating still and film campaigns.
She is the recipient of the ICP Award 2020.
