Sarah Thomas Moffat’s career spans 25 years and growing. Beginning as a student PA it has expanded across all departments and genres to successfully establish her as a Cinematographer.
Her work ethic is communication, focus and professionalism to see a project through. Teams and talent always responded well to STM’s leadership. She connects with them on a human level first. It’s not about the camera, it’s about the story. Using this approach STM works towards the greater outcome while aiming for the best.
STM has also received a certification from the Schulich School of Business via WIFT Toronto in Media Leadership. Her leadership and communication skills, combined with knowledge of the industry are highly regarded assets. STM’s ability to strategically troubleshoot on the spot keeps projects moving at pace. Lighting all genres of story content, her work has reached TIFF, Hotdocs and many other festivals internationally. STM’s work has also aired on HULU, LifeTime, Netflix, CBC, CTV, APTN, Discovery, History, as well as commercial air time, and online viral success reaching over 100 million views.
Ambassadorship is in her repertoire, having served as a Northern Explorer of Light for Canon Canada, STM lectured in the corporate and public sectors on technology. Also sponsored by Manfortto, Easyrig and Helly Hanson she appeared in many magazine promotions. Originally creating and writing the Tech Column for Canadian Cinematographer magazine, along with the Wisdom Lecture Series, while volunteering on the Board of the CSC in previous years, STM’s contributions have been many. STM also built her own content successfully creating her former education platform called TeckVlog.com, while designing workshops for various groups.
Utilizing her CAD/UK dual citizenship, STM’s career has spanned the globe. She also holds a valid US work visa. STM is a member of IATSE, an associate member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, and a mentee of the American Society of Cinematographers Vision Program.
