Barcelona-born, Melbourne-based Mariona Guiu is a documentary maker and a video producer-director with 12+ years of experience in the screen industry. Her body of work spans across different roles, industries and continents, with a particular interest on gender issues told differently, and storytelling as a trigger for social change. In 2017 she released her first feature length documentary, Singled [Out], exploring the stigma of being a single woman in 4 different cities in the world. (www.singledoutfilm.com) She currently works in the University of Melbourne as a video producer and director, helping academics and researchers to identify their story and tell it differently. She teaches storytelling workshops within and outside the University, while she also directs content for external organisations and develops her own projects. A confident editor and director, she is very passionate about the power of stories to create connection between communities, and she is constantly on the hunt for the perfect scenario for people to share their stories at their best. Interviewing people, getting to know them and asking that additional ‘why’ it’s one of her favourite activities.
