Workshop Participants
Jodi Hilton is a freelance photojournalist, based in Sofia, Bulgaria. She has worked for numerous magazines, newspapers, NGOs, universities and UN organizations and is currently working on a long-term project about the precarious housing situation faced by the Roma minority in Bulgaria. Before that she mostly covered migration and the refugee crisis. She is a founder of the Children's Photo Workshop for refugee children and Balkan Press Club, an online networking group for Balkan-based journalists and she is also a founding member of Trauma Training for Journalists, an all-volunteer group which provides medical and security training. She is a co-recipient of a grant from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting for her work on migration in Greece. She graduated from University of Missouri and Colorado College and attended the Platypus Workshop where she learned the basics of videojournalism.

Brian and his amazing team brought us through MediaStorm's production process from start to finish, highlighting numerous aspects of the craft and the business during the four-day workshop. I feel privileged to have had a chance to learn from the MediaStorm team. Brian is a talented instructor who is approachable and honest about the struggles and triumphs which led to the creation and continuation of MediaStorm, a documentary production company that maintains the ethics and pays tribute to the foundations of photojournalism which I hold dear.
As a photojournalist and baby doc-producer, I found the training invaluable and inspiring. I was pleased to be in the company of a talented group of colleagues and peers, who themselves offered insight and experience to the training. I found the workshop personally motivating and inspiring and would like to return for more such trainings in the future.
