Jika González award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker from Mexico City. She is currently based in New York where she is on staff with VICE News.
Her work has taken her across the US and around the world where she has focused on telling stories about identity, the human consequences of immigration policy, and climate change.
Jika is drawn to stories that evoke empathy and understanding for people and from places that are often misunderstood or overlooked. She prefers to work with a light footprint, shoots most of her work handheld, and seeks to capture raw and intimate moments with reverence and authenticity.
The stories she's worked on have been acknowledged with five News and Documentary Emmy awards, a Peabody, and an Overseas Press Club award.
